Shri Sajal Haldar
Bibhagiya Adhyaksa (Abritti) , Bharatiya Kala Vikash Kendra
Sajal Haldar was raised in a home where art and literature were part of daily life. It was in this rich environment that his journey into abritti (poetic recitation) began, learning first from his sister, renowned elocutionist Sangeeta Haldar, and his brother, cultural personality Swapan Haldar.
To nurture abritti and other cultural forms, he co-founded several organizations. Over time, he has trained countless students — teaching technique, interpreting poetry, and inspiring regular practice. His mentorship continues to shape many emerging voices.
An ardent admirer of Shri Pradip Ghosh and Smt. Partha Ghosh, their influence shaped his poetic sensibility. As a poet known across India and Bangladesh, Sajal brings rare depth to his recitations, blending performer and creator.
Though deeply inspired by Rabindranath Tagore, Jibanananda Das, and Samar Sen, Sajal reads widely and passionately. He wrote “molater niche shobdo Fosil” is well regarded. He edits Haloom and Sahitya Panshi, and contributes to magazines like Ekhon Cholte Cholte, Ultodurbin, Karubasna, Rik, Ebong Kodalya, Advaita (Bangladesh), and Battingzon (Bangladesh). With over four decades of cultural dedication, Sajal has earned wide respect as both elocutionist and poet. Awards have followed, but his greatest satisfaction comes from teaching abritti and nurturing future talents.
He now serves as Bibhagiya Adhyaksa (Abritti) at Bharatiya Kala Bikash Kendra. A quiet yet powerful force in the world of recitation, Sajal Haldar continues to inspire a new generation of voices carrying forward this rich tradition.
