Shri Chinmoy Biswas

Pradhan Adhyaksa , Bharatiya Kala Vikash Kendra

Shri Chinmoy Biswas is a celebrated vocalist, mentor, and cultural leader whose musical journey has been shaped by deep inspiration, rigorous training, and decades of dedication to Indian music.

From his school days, he was inspired by his Bengali teacher, Shri Harishchandra Mondal, and his uncle, Shri Netai Pada Biswas. Along with his elder sister, Smt. Chandana Biswas, he began his early musical pursuits at home. His formal training started under Shri Sudhir Biswas, a distinguished disciple of Pandit Chinmoy Lahiri and Satinath Mukhopadhyay, where he received his first lessons in Indian Classical Music. Later, he continued his training under Shri Anil Chakraborty, refining his knowledge of classical music.

Alongside, he pursued intensive training in Nazrul Geeti, Ragpradhan, and Modern Bengali Songs under Pandit Shankar Ghoshal, from whom he had the privilege of learning with paternal affection for over three decades.

Shri Biswas completed his degree in Vocal Music from Rabindra Bharati University, which further strengthened his academic and practical foundation in the field of music. Over the years, his reputation as a dedicated teacher and performer grew, and today, students from various parts of North 24 Parganas and across West Bengal come to him to learn music.

He is also the driving force behind Barasat Shrutinandan, a respected cultural institution where he nurtures aspiring musicians and preserves Bengal’s rich musical traditions.

Currently, as the Pradhan Adhyaksa of Bharatiya Kala Vikash Kendra, Shri Chinmoy Biswas continues to guide the organization with vision, dedication, and artistry. With his leadership, the Kendra flourishes as a hub for artistic growth, blending classical values with modern sensibilities to inspire the next generation of musicians.
